I left over 90 minutes continuency time, allowing the journey between London and Bristol with no stops to take up to 4 and a half hours.
Only 90 minutes contingency is madness on that route, it's notoriously bad, I'd have left in the morning for an evening event, mid day at the latest. You were always going to be cutting it fine.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -
I believe the bus driver not allowing you off has something to do with their insurance. By letting you off at a non-designated stop, if something happened to you then they would have to defend this.
I may be wrong though! I'm sorry you missed your event.
Not just insurance - their licence to operate the route says they can only pick up and set down passengers at the designated stops in the timetable.0 -
And they can't just let a bus load of passengers off to stroll along the Hammersmith flyover!Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

OP, 90 minutes doesnt seem like much leeway to me, leaving in the morning would have got you there with time to spare to relax before the show.
Any hold up would have caused you the same issues and megabus still got you to the destination so i dont see how magabus or the event organiser are liable0 -
I believe Megabus may offer a complementary travel voucher as a goodwill gesture, they certainly will not be liable for your consequential losses if that is what you were hoping for. As other have noted, I think your belief that you had enough time to use the M4/A4 corridor was somewhat misguided, especially if your hope of reaching the venue in time was less than two hours (Sod's Law).
If time was tight, the train has better delay reporting than Megabus or NatExpress, but ask nicely, and see what they say.0
