I have done a number of long commutes, on public transport it was fine, catching up with work, reading or watching box sets as long as the trains were running ok, it was only a real pain when they screwed up or the cable thieves had been at work overnight.
However I much prefer my current commute which is about 10 seconds walk.

60 minutes on a train flys by. You can do other things. Don't just sit there. Catch up on your news. Have a coffee etc...etc.. Do some study.

Which is fine if you are on a line where there is space.

However, if you are in a sardine tin.......

Another point to consider is how understanding (or otherwise) your employer will be when the inevitable delays happen.

Some are fine but others take a hard line and say it is your problem to get to work on time.

I would say on average at least 1 journey a week was delayed due to weather/jumper/train fault. If it is evening it is just annoying. If it is morning you need a considerate boss.
