Virgin Media credit check before completion

Hi all, we are first time buyers, we exchanged last week and our completion date is the 20th. We will still have our rental house until 30th when we hand back the keys for that.

We need to get the broadband up and running at the new property asap as I am a web developer and have to be on call for out of hours support at work in the first week of July (which requires a broadband connection).

I just went to look at getting Virgin media set up (they are working out cheaper than Sky) for broadband and there is a tick box saying 'I agree to a credit check'. If I tick it and continue with the application, is it going to jeopardise my mortgage?
If it doesn’t move, and it should, use WD-40. If it moves, and it shouldn’t, use duct tape!

Nobody can give you a definitive answer.

My suggestion is to avoid credit checks until you have completed.

Could you not get a dongle with a payg sim card for a month? Thats what I did when I completed on my mortgage as VM told me it was a 3 week wait to get an engineer person down.

Ok, thanks. I wasn't sure if it would make a difference that it is for a contract for a service rather than a credit card/loan etc. I thought that maybe Virgin credit check might be a soft one?

I might be able to get a dongle but would have to get that cleared with work as I'm not sure whether it would work with our systems.
