I just want to know how long the string will last its not nice for everyone at the company thats having to pull the dead weight
In what way are you pulling "dead weight"?
You turn up for eight hours and work for that time - whether this individual is there or not.
Beyond b1tchiness, I don't see the problem.
Does this individual get marginalised and left to work in a poisonous atmosphere by any chance?Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0 -

Wrong.
If the employer makes no attempt to mitigate lost manpower by hiring anew then it certainly will have an impact on current workers via several devices - most notably rotas, overtime, shifts, workloads and so on.
That is unless the employer gladly embraces lost productivity.0 -
I can understand both sides.
I am someone who rarely takes time off. I haven't had any days off sick in the last year and even when I had my car accident which was just under 18 months ago, I had minimal time off, work let me work flexibly with hours to attend Physio appointments (e.g come in early so I can leave early to go to Physio) and when I have had treatments like steroid injections I have booked a few days off after to allow it to settle as I knew there could be an issue rather than having it then phoning in sick when I was in too much pain after. Work have been good getting me special office equipment e.g I had an assessment and had special chair which supports my neck properly etc. desk equipment, keyboard etc.
So work have been good and in return I have been at work because they have supported me to be at work. I think that's how a relationship should be between employer and employee.
Some nights I have been in a lot of pain after work and had to go straight to bed but I would do that and rest on my time rather than have lots of time off.
As an employee I have no problem with people who have extended periods off for unavoidable things, e.g disabilities, long term illness, surgeries etc
However I think as an employee you have a responsibility to be in a position to be at work when possible. What annoys me and I'm sure everyone has encountered these people at some point in your working life is people who seem to want to get paid for not working. So they will happen to be often call in sick the day after bank holidays or after they are due to come back from annual leave and will be off for different reasons for at least a week every few months. Or people who have an injury when it suits them so they are like I can't possibly do xyz because of my bad back but then you know they are capable of doing things when it's something they want to do.
I think most people hate it when they feel people take advantage and it impacts on their work. Of course you don't know the confidential circumstances of everyone but you usually get the feel for who is pulling a sickie and you know if some people are off work they must be really poorly.0 -

This is the sort of thing thats happening. She take time off saying she can't work but when people have talked to her she sounds like she is more than capable of sitting in a chair and doing office work.
the company have given her a new chair and done a lot to help her but she keeps going off sick. its a small team and everyone is sick of dealing with someone that wants the pay packet but wants to be on sick leave all the time. the company even let her shorten her hours to see if that would help but still off sick what feels like all the time.Age: 24 / London/Ireland / Salary €49,000 / 1 London BTL (8% yield) / Total savings pot £12k+

Lots of people sound capable of sitting in a chair and doing office work, but physically or mentally they are incapable.
I can imagine she faces a frosty reception when she is in work due to her colleagues not understanding her problems and taking issue with her time off.
Have you spoken to management about your concerns? maybe thats the place to start or maybe speak to this woman, show an interest in her, you may find you become more tolerant if you have an understanding.0 -

You should work for ATOS. "She sounds like she can sit in a chair and work so she's not sick". You have absolutely no understanding of how a disability might affect someone.0
