Yet another bank account question

My court date is set for 14th Aug and its not going to be possible to set up my wages being paid into a new account (work needs to know before the 11th of the month for changes)
I'm thinking of using my daughters account, she banks with the same bank as me.
If we go in and i get them to cancel all my SO and DDs from my account and then re-open them in my daughters account, will they do this?
Also she's only just 18 and as she is paid in cash and only has a few quid at a time in her bank will they accept this.
I will, of course, be getting my wages paid inot her account to cover all the DD and SO's

If you are prepared to take the very very small risk and open an account with Nationwide or the Co-op, you should still have time to do this before your BR appointment. (I think. I did mine post BR).

If you want to try I would contact them ASAP to confirm how long the paperwork would take. Others on her have done this in the month before BR.

Alternatively, I know it would be fine to have your wages paid into your daughters account, but I'm not sure about the transfer of DD's and SO's into another name. Again some others here may have done this.

Hopefully others here will chip in with how they got on getting a new account on the run up to BR.:)

Like you I had a salary payment date to take into account, but me haranguing the Co-op about the account got it set up just in time. As your court date is so close to your salary payment date, could you ring the court & ask for the date to be brought forward to the end of July or postponed to a week after your salary goes in? That would give you enough time to get the money out between your pay date & your hearing, & enough time to set up another account before the next lot of direct debits are due. I know some people have managed to get the account sorted out & still keep it free for them to use post-BR, but as fermi says it's a bit risky.

Just checked with my daughter. DD's, salary payments, SO's can be set up from any account. It's all numbers, not names

In that case, personally I would go the safe route and open a new account post BR. But as said, it's your call.

Your daughter will have to do it for you. You can't have access to her account for that sort of thing. Give her the account details of DDs etc and once she's set them up cancel all the ones on your account. Do it online?
  • Thanks again.
If i go to my branch and ask for a list of all DD and SO will they just print it off then i can hand it to my daughter and she can then set them up again???..sorry these questions are getting dumber
Not set up for online banking.
