1st and most important..... NO IMPULSE SPENDING :rotfl:

Save rather than get a loan or put it on a card (it's much cheaper in the long run)

Wait a little while and see if that WANT is really WANTED after all :A

Meal Planning is the BEST and cheapest way to shop and avoid throwing food away. :p

BUDGET, budget errrr.... and guess what STICK TO THAT BUDGET

KEEP a SPENDING DIARY at all costs, that is the starting block that will carry you to the end.

Nice meals that are tasty DON'T have to be expensive.;)

retail therapy really DOES NOT HELP AT ALL, get to the underlying problems instead. :D

A bump here and there along the way should be expected.

ALWAYS stay in control of your finances - don't let them take control of you.

Start to save monthly so that if things go wrong you have a back up (that is the hardest one for me, never had savings in my life)

MATERIAL THINGS DO NOT ACCOUNT FOR HAPPINESS :o

Keep a tight rein on your finances and I check my accounts online at least once a day (some would call it obsession )

Really listen to the advice on here, this is a very special place that has won my affections, FOREVER

I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
