Help with wording for letter to CC, please.

I have an 11k debt with Halifax CC, that I am struggling to pay the minimum payment on. (See my SOA last night!) (Min payment £250, of which £100 of that is interest!)
I have 3 'empty' credit cards with total balance available 17K. On suggestions from MSE posters I would like to approach these in an attempt to transfer my balance to them if they would give me a low balance transfer rate. (In the hope they will want to keep my business rather than shut the cards down)
(I am not able to phone and would like to write instead), can anyone think of clever wording to help me, please?

Not anything I know much about so bump in hope someone can be of help.
But one thought if you cannot afford 11k on one credit card what makes you think you can afford it spread accross 3 and also you will have to be so careful not to run that 11 up to 17 seems risky to me unless I am misunderstanding your intentions.0 -
Hello Scorpio
Here's an attempt at a letter - I'm mainly posting it in the hope that someone more knowledgeable will come along and suggest improvements.
Dear xxxxxx
Re Account No xxxxxxxx
I am writing to enquire whether you offer a balance transfer rate to existing customers. I am looking to transfer 11k from another card and am therefore seeking the best life of balance deal on the market.
Please would you write to let me know what your best offer is. If you are unable to take balance transfers, please close this account as I have no further use for it.
Yours sincerely...
There is a 'credit cards' board somewhere on this forum, and it has a sticky for 'existing customer balance transfers' so have a read and see if anyone has had success with the same companies you have cards with. It could be helpful to say in your letter, "My friend recently got a xx% deal with you and I am writing to request the same offer." I used this ploy with Abbey six months ago and it worked.
rayday's point is good but I got a strong impression from your posts yesterday that you will not be getting into any more debt, and so I think it's a great idea to try and transfer the balance. good luck.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Although it's a good thing to try to reduce the APR on the CC, it doesn't necessarily mean that the minimum payment will be less.. these tend to be 2-3% of the balance.. so if you are struggling to make the repayments then getting a lower APR card may not solve your problem although it will help pay the debt off earlier.0
