Obviously some of you guys are talking bull cheque centre CHOSE to opt out of payday loans and were not stopped from offering them and also the whole them not offering to help customers is also incorrect as they Are part of the treating customers fairly culture and so a payment plan can and is offered to customers in financial difficulty and interest is frozen. I completely agree it is irresponsible borrowing not lending people are so quick to borrow and jump at limit increases without even considering paying it back.

    Hi Jobless,

Thanks for the insight, sadly when even their own employees have gone public to "out" their sales tactics and poor customer treatment I think you might want to do a bit of research before commenting.

Point one - punctuation please. Makes it so much easier to understand, even with the plethora of other mistakes ;)

Point two - Cheque Centre do NOT help customers in financial difficulty. They would not freeze interest for me - in fact they stressed that for every day my loan was late, £83 interest would be added - they would not agree to a monthly payment as I didn't earn enough, and they threatened to send people to my house. Please note I was standing in tears in the shop discussing this.

They are not nice people to deal with. Good luck with your complaint, MB.

    Thanks HS :)

One thing I just want to mention is that my experience of them when entering into my DMP was very good.

They were very helpful and understanding and in no way made me feel bad and while this may have been due to recent changes in legislation I thought I should say this in case anyone is considering a DMP and is worried about contacting them...

If they'd mentioned SC or a DMP in the first place then things would be different.

    Quick update to thread;

I have today received an email notification that their final response has been made and will be posted so I should receive it within the next few days. It also thanks me for my patience while it is investigated and they look forward to hearing from me in due course.

Now, right at this moment in time I'm feeling "less than optimistic" and am waiting for a letter saying "screw you, you borrowed to gamble scum so drop dead" LOL

Right now, I don't care I'm just happy to know it's nearly over (from the Cheque Centre side of things) and I can expect something in the post...

All that aside, I'm not sure why they wouldn't just send me their response in an email? Is it better for them/me to have a postal copy? Who knows!

Time will tell all and I'll post an update here when it arrives.

Could it be that they are expecting you to take it further/be unsatisfied with the response and they're buying time? If you had received the email response today you could have gotten straight onto the FOS, this gives them an extra few days to formulate a plan when/if that happens.

I still hope it's a positive outcome for you, with the information you have given us I'm firmly with you on this.

    Hi Kate,

It could be but I don't think so as they're replying after 4 weeks when they could have taken 8...

I'm sort of expecting an apology and a token £30 and that's about it. I have to admit that it must be hard to get evidence either way since when I called their HO they were pretty dismissive so doubt they'll have noted the account(?) and I wouldn't be able to hazard a guess as to dates and on top of that I bet the advisers in branch won't admit what happened as it'll look bad on them too :( so it's really my word against theirs I guess although there should at least be records of me loaning £1k every month without fail for a couple of years and copies of my bank statements.

Who knows lol, it may arrive tomorrow with a promise of £3k if I take it no further LOL yeah... Sure ;)

I totally forgot about this thread! Whoops!

So, since raising my complaint I have as mentioned above received a letter with a brief summary of my loan history and a very reasonable offer which I have accepted.

The accompanying letter went on to apologise for my experience and I am very happy with the response received. It is not a refund of all interest and charges but I never expected that because at the end of the day, I chose to loan from them in the first place.

Hand on heart, with the exception of a few wobbles at the beginning the Cheque Centre have been very fair and have handled my complaint in excellent fashion.
