Yorkshire Bank don't do direct debit on mortgages???

My partner has a mortgage with YB and I missed the letter that mentioned the rate change in Feb - he is terrible with paperwork but as I don't live with him the letter was missed. So one payment was about £1 short until I amended the standing order. I requested a direct debit form even going at great length with the advisor about how this would mean this wouldn't happen again, to receive a new standing order mandate this morning! Having just rung them I have been told that YB don't do direct debits on their mortgages - has anyone else heard of this?? I'll make sure I intercept the post better next year but this is really not very helpful!!!

Click on the first link, one of the pages in the YBS application form is.... wait for it.... A DD mandate.

Sounds like you spoke to someone who should not have een trusted to answer a phone.

    Sorry my mistake.

I couldnt find one for yorkshire bank but im sure they are part of clydesdale bank - clydesdale have a DD mandate.

Either way, for a customer service rep of a bank to not know what a DD is is pretty poor. I would call back again until you get hold of someone who understands the banking system.

Yorkshire Bank do not do direct debits.

There is two ways to pay,

    1) standing order from another bank
    2) auto debit (which is when the mortgage payment is taken from a YB current account

Even though CB and YB is the same bank, only CB customer may pay by DD.

I suppose when the majority of your customers wear flat caps, say 'by eck' a lot and are tight gits there's no need......
