Sofa on credit- help

I have got a sofa on credit from sofa workshop for around 4 months, it was over a grand. It is in good condition but we are now getting ready to file for bankruptcy, will they take this away from us, should we be looking for a second hand one as a replacement ( not that we have the money to buy one).

Same with stuff on next catolouge, will they take all our furniture away.

How will they know what we have? bit worried we will end up with no furniture...

Can anyone advise please

I don't think they'll be interested in your furniture, so relax. As tight_jock always says, they may want that Monet painting hidden under your stairs. :D

NekoZombie is correct, a sofa would not be classed as an asset (providing it's not an antique!) and as a newish sofa that isn't going to be a problem.

A point to remember is that bankruptcy is a way in which people can have a fresh start and hopefully regain a certain quality of life. If they took your furniture to pay towards your bankruptcy, you would feel no better off as you wouldn't have the money to be able to refurnish your house!

    Hope this helps

Thankyou for replying, Im just panicking about our quality of life I guess. I have a toddler adn another one on the way and scared of all our furnishings been taken away and no cot or anything left.

Do people actaully come around to your house?? and start poking around. We really have not go t anything worth any value but its going to be increibly embarrasing and stressful heavily pregnant and dealing with all this.

I have never heard of them doing this so don't worry. :)

The only possible time that this might happen is if they suspect that you are concealing assets of a very considerable value. But in cases concerning the normal 'consumer debt' cycle, this will never be an issue.
