Rail Travel Vouchers

Options
Whilst looking through some paperwork I found 3 sets of rail travel vouchers which expire next month.

I don't normally make long journeys so having to use £20 each time I use one is going to be a bit complicated. I used one the other day for going to work on the train and ended up using £5.30 with the remainder going down the drain as they don't give change or vouchers back. I would give the vouchers out to family but no one uses trains for long distance journeys. :o:o:o

Does anyone know who I could contact to see if they could split the denominations down for me, for example £20 = 4 x £5 vouchers or is that just wishful thinking? I have Googled but have not found any information.

The £60 voucher was from East Coast because one of their services I used last year was delayed by a few hours.

Many thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help.

I have rail vouchers issued by Southern Rail which they have said can be exchanged for cash at their ticket office so it might be worth checking if East Coast will do this too.

    You threw away £14.70!?

People are prepared to pay almost the full value of them!

You could ask the issuing TOC to change the denomination, but if it was me I'd just sell them.

Thanks guys. And yeah, sorry yorkie2 I didn't quite understand what the woman at the counter said until I walked off with the ticket and thought shoot!

Will definitely give East Coast a tinkle and see what they say. Hope it's a positive response like you Nikkisun.

If not, I will have to look at booking something not too close from me.

    Thanks again people. Much appreciate.

East Coast have a policy of converting them into e vouchers. These can be 'part' used for transactions on their website.

You can book for travel with any company, and tickets can usually be collected instantly.

Tickets paid for wholly by e-vouchers can be collected by inserting any card into the ticket machines.

Thanks to all for their responses. I contacted East Coast and they are going to send me some more vouchers with lower denominations when I send my current vouchers back. Your help is much appreciated.
