Hello New and Old(er) Peeps and welcome back MB!
I'm just catching up with all the old threads. Just some good news on my health, 6 scans later my liver tumour is not actually a benign tumour but a bunch of twisted blood vessels, all that worry for nothing. Onwards and upwards. Health is so much more important than money worries!
Anyway, moving on, I've noticed that 2 of the catalogue companies have marked me down on Noddle as DMP and I have Arrangement to Pay on a credit card. I've received a few defaults which I now know is a good thing. How do I go about trying to get defaults on the AP's and DMP's as I want them hanging around after 6 years. I've had a look for letter templates but cannot find anything suitable?
Any help would be gratefully appreciated as always.
Keep well everybody
Hey Fuzz, welcome back - Fabbie news - what a relief .
Sorry cant help with templates, not something I've ventured into yet as my non defaulted accounts suddenly started to show account up to date?
Good luck with it though, sure some people here had successes with it and I think you should ask for defaults to be backdated too ?Debt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

Hello all
I'm wondering if anyone has had any problems with Lloyds bank? I have an overdraft with them that's I've put on my DMP but for some reason they keep telling Payplan the details are incorrect but they aren't, I've given the correct account & sort code number so I'm unsure what I'm suppose to do.
Anyone any ideas?
xx
Hi jessbaird most of my debt is with lloyds including o/d on gold account. Everything has been fine setting up DMP, I wrote to local branch initially pre-DMP notification and have transferred £1 per month token payments, although they are still charging account fee, about £13 p.month, but all other fees and interest were stopped almost immediately. I would give them a ring, if you feel brave enough, I have found collections fine to talk with and ask them why they are not 'connecting' with Payplan. Good luck
fuzzy super news, what a relief for you- yes, you are so right, health first and foremost

My DMP ended on 1st September 2014. It's a great feeling.
Although I still have a little debt (Student loan till March, and a car loan I had to have to get to work) I have nonetheless freed up a massive amount of dosh now (Over £550 a month). It's taken three years, and we've cleared nearly £20,000.
Have I learned anything? Hell yeah! You MUST. You have to look at what you're doing. Where are the pennies going? What don't you need? Are you getting good deals? I read a wonderful book by Rob Parsons called "The Money Secret" about a year ago. If you haven't read this, and you need bolstering, and simple advice that will take no more than about 2 hours to read, then please have a look at this. It makes PERFECT sense.
I would like to say Thanks to Payplan for their help. They've been really great, and I can only reiterate- do NOT go to a fee paying DMP company, because you can either do your own or go to a free service. I would have been debt free about a year earlier had it not been for DCM money solutions, who ripped me, as well as many others, off.
Here's to you all. Keep persevering. It's worth it.
Mother mercury thanks for posting,
£20k in 3 years, brilliant and congratulations on being DMP free.
I'll have a look for that book - can always do with extra inspiration.
Aerie you paying student loan by DD, you can towards the end and it stops you making overpayments.
We like good news here, happy days.Debt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.

Quick update - had a letter from Natwest who I have an overdraft and loan with. The letter starts with 'Formal notice of intention to file a default and to take action to recover debt'
It states 'The bank intends to demand payment of the total amount outstanding (£5601.54) if necessary by court action and accordingly terminate the overdraft arrangement on or after 2 October, 2014 unless by the date you have made an alternative arrangement for repayment which is acceptable to the bank.'
I have read that defaults are a good thing??
I'm assuming by 'alternative arrangement' they mean the DMP with SC?
Just need a bit of advice as this letter sounded a bit more threatening than the lovely letter we had from MBNA.
Thanks in advance.

Hi BDFSH,
This is 'standard stuff' and I have had quite a lot of theseJust press ahead with everything you are doing - this is the computer speaking to you - not a person with their brain engaged.
As mentioned different creditors have different styles. One of my biggest debts is with NatWest and I have to say they are the most 'nit picky' and the ones who like to come on the most machoThey're no worse than anybody else really but have you ever met the kid that likes to act big?

Morning all!
STILL no payout from HSBC for the PPI. It's been two weeks so still within the timescales but a bit frustrating having to wait when you see other banks are paying out within 7 days
I know I'm being impatient but the promise of 25% of my debt getting wiped out (possibly more if I can negotiate some F&Fs) is a chocolate coated carrot dipped in wine dangling in front of my nose!If nothing else it's given me plenty of time to think about what to do with it. First stop is £500 put aside for emergency fund. Then fire off some F&F letters (a girl can hope
) and thirdly a new winter coat each for me and DD1 - she's grown and I've shrunk
- while we wait for responses. If F&Fs don't happen it'll be paid off the interest attracting debt (creation will not play ball) and my debt total will go from its current smidgen over £10k to under £8k. If I can get shot of the creation debt (assuming F&Fs are rejected) it'll take my DFD down to 2018 which is the year I turn 40 :j
Still no word on the job and there's a restructure happening at work so there's a lot of uncertainty and some very worried people. TBH I think a lot of it is speculation and scaremongering. If it happens it's outside of my control so there's no point worrying until we know more plus it's going to cost them to get rid of me
I'm off work for a teacher training day for my little ones today and have NOTHING plannedThis is the calm before the storm - DS1 is off for a day trip to France next week (11pm Thurs to 1am Sat) and we're off to Liverpool Uni on the 6.11am train on Saturday next week! Quite excited about that as we had such a great time visiting Nottingham and Bristol last weekend (at 4pm last Saturday we were sat on a beach in the sunshine!)
On a more serious note I've had a bit of a "jolt" this morning. My usual route to work is closed due to a fatal RTA. It's a mile away from my home but it's made me think. Some poor family has lost a member, some poor mother has lost her son. It's put things in perspective, I may be in debt, I may not have disposable income to throw around but I have a beautiful family that I love and that love me and I'm here to pay off this debt no matter how long it takes. Quite a sobering morning for me.

You should have suggested this as a choice of flavour in the Walkers crisps competition! Like an entire meal, vegetables for healthchocolate for desert
and wine to wash it all down! :j all wrapped up in some wholesome crispy goodness... How's that for a slice of fried gold?

OMG! HSBC have been given the wrong account number to pay into
called for update as they suggested last week and had wrong account number quoted back to me.
New bank can't do anything even though I gave them the amount, incorrect details it's going to be paid to and date
Now on hold with HSBC hoping they can recall it and resend ASAP. Not looking likely. First option was that they'd post me a letter to give to new bank to prove it's mine (which will take 7-10 days to arrive) second option is a 3-5 day wait for a call back from PPI department (which last time took 3 weeks). There is no option 3 despite me giving them precise instructions on how to recall the funds and resend (I have a hand in this at work so know the process).
So back to waiting. Again. On the bright side it was going to the new account but now I have to start the whole thing again.
Grrrrr  I just want to pay off my debt!!!

Just thought i'd bob in and update, i don't post very often, but do read on a regular basis, have just done my 2nd year review, and managed to increase our payment by a fiver, not a lot but does knock a month off our DFD, everything is ticking along nicely except Barclaycard, who have reintroduced interest although at a vastly reduced rate, at the moment i'm ok with this but if it increases any further i will hit them head on. For those of you just starting, it is very scary in the beginning, however as time goes on you do get used to living within your means, theses also a great deal of satisfaction in the fact that everything we have had in the last 2 years has been paid for cash! that and the fact that i now sleep like a baby , and actually have a bit of a life.LBM 2 and the OH is onboard sept 12, DMP will start on the 1st November, DFD who cares as longs as it comes:)
1 year down 5 to go and now under 30k and 10% paid off :beer:0 -
Another one who doesn't post so often!
I've had to reduce my dmp againI am really worried about it this time, if I'd waited a week I can actually increase it by about £20 which is typical but don't want to be seen as mucking them about.
Still waiting for the confirmation letter, they sent an email but last time I reduced it they also put a confirmation letter - my partner doesn't know (you may or may not agree with me about this but I have my reasons for not telling) and I just know it will arrive tomorrow.
Well done to those who have paid it all off. I'm sure it's a lovely feeling. :T0
