Bread card-pre-paid maestro card-feedback-(I think it's great)

Hi all,
As you may have seen I went BR 21/6/2007. STILL waiting for Co-Op a/c with debit card, applied also for Barclays Cardcash & Nationwide (bizarre-when I went in the branch they picked up on the fact I had...ahem...an account with them-£10k loan included in BR! But they still authorised to open the a/c-knowing I'm BR & owe them money!)-no cards yet but not debit cards. Costs £10.
The BREAD card is issued by Newcastle Building Society & unlike some pre-paid credit cards you are not charged when you use it. To top up at any papypoint outlet is £1-salary credit i think is 25p-& a small charge for caspoint withdrawal/use overseas.
I credited £200 this morning-shows up straight away! I also have the casplus mastercard-again £10-BUT either £1 per transaction or if multiple transactions-£4-95 PCM. No charge to load-same small fees for cashpoint/overseas-so overall a bit dearer but again ideal if maestro not accepted.
Hope this is of use-I almost feel like a person with 'normal' banking facilities!

Just google 'bread card' for maestro & 'cash plus' for mastercard. Not too good on the techie side of putting links in!0

The link to the bread card is here. However, I advise reading through the Terms & Conditions very carefully before signing up as calls to their Customer Services are 80p per minute, & may be more more expensive on non-BT networks or mobiles. :eek:BSC #53 - "Never mistake activity for achievement."

Wheredititallgo,
I noticed that too!!!! Hopefully there shouldn't be a need (!) to call & I'm sure someone on the 'saynoto0870' site will have another number.
I might contact them (a quick call abusing my work phone!) & see if they have a contact number from abroad-this is often a geographic number-will post back if any luck!0 -
That would be good if you could get the number .
why not join up the co op ?? instead of this pre paid thing ???debtmonkey1 wrote: »Wheredititallgo,

I have a coop account and a bread card mainly due to the fact that the co-op card is visa electron and not accepted everywhere but the bread card is maestro and accepted most places .Official DFW NERD 189
