Hi All,
I hope someone can give me a little advice with this, I'm not panicked by it, more annoyed than anything else.
About 4 years or so ago I got into the payday loan cycle, thankfully I got myself out of it (or so I thought) by paying it all off.
Today I've received an e-mail from MMile telling me to contact them so they can make an appointment for a doorstep visit. It transpires that they have bought a debt from an old Wageday Advance Loan that I had.
I remember this loan and I also paid it off using an old work issued American Express card (after getting permission from my manager of course) I then cleared the AMEX bill when I was paid.
Wageday Advance sent me an email confirming full and final settlement of the debt 4 years ago when I cleared it.
Maybe 3 years ago WDA contacted me to say the debt was still outstanding, I contacted them back in writing stating that I'd made full and final settlement, I then heard nothing back again until now, as I no longer work for the company that provided the card for payment I could not send the statements showing the payment but I sent them my bank statement showing the exact amount I was paying back onto my AMEX card.
It seems WDA have sold this debt on, the problem I have is that I have moved house a couple of times since then and don't have the settlement letter email any more, to further compound this the company I used to work for no longer exists (it was bought out and all the assetts split out and sold on) and AMEX will not talk to me as I don't work for the company any more and cannot provide them any security details (like account no. etc.)
What can I do about this shower of ***** situation?
I have also checked my credit file and there is no mention of this debt on there.

Just write and tell them it has been settled previously, and its up to them to prove otherwise, had dealings with them myself, your description of them is spot on !!:rotfl:I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
