Tesco Clubcard Fuel Save

Options
Tesco Clubcard Fuel Savings accumulate as you spend during a month.
The savings accumulated must be redeemed before the end of the following month.
However, has anyone experienced this little gem from Tesco ??
If your accumulated savings at the end of the month are an odd number, then on the first day of the following month you loose one point to bring your total down to an even number. :naughty:
This loss doesn’t happen if your end of month total is an even number.
I’m an IT Systems Analyst Programmer – the bird brained idiot that designed and programmed this system should be shot !!
So when the end of the month approaches and you've an odd number of savings, use them before you loose them !
The girl at my local Tesco petrol station says she's fed up with customers complaining about this. It's not so much about the small monetary amount involved - it's just the principal and sheer stupidity of the rule. It just begs the question WHY ??

Yes I agree it a sort of 'shot yourself in the foot' moment!

It is intended to be informative, i.e. you don't need to spend £50.00 to get another two pence off, but only £25.00 .

Whether there will be any refinements to the system in due course, it was tested first of all in Norwich, then in Wales.

The terms and conditions state that you can only use even numbers when redeeming, so losing the penny makes sense.
  • They must have changed it before rolling it out in Wales, as I've used odd numbers before now.

I save my pennies off to fill the tank up the week before payday :)

I save the "money off" per litre for when DH fills up the motorhome! Means we get more off than using it to fill my car or his scooter as obviously it has a much bigger tank!

  • We've found the money off petrol thing amazing, 20p off petrol every four weeks (when my daughter fills up the car) is not to be sniffed at, it's at least £5 off (got a tiny Nissan, costs £40ish to fill every four weeks).

Also it has focussed our shopping at Tesco cos we really want the money off petrol every month!

  • Another cynical ploy by supermarkets to get you to spend money , tempting you with rewards, then reducing them to lessen the impact on their profits.
