Department 'market stall' ideas wanted

Hi

I work for a large organisation and my department has been told today that each department within our organisation has to create a 'market stall' explaining what we do. I work in the accounts department, any ideas would be very welcome.

Is there someone reading this whose company has done something similar?

Keep it simple, make it entertaining/interactive would be my advice.

How about some yearly stats, like number of invoices processed, bank statements reconciled, reports produced, that kind of thing. A meet the team poster - who does what, who you go to if you have a query about this, a flowchart outlining a key process etc. In my experience, every department believes they do more work than anybody else! If this is the case in your workplace, its an opportunity to demo that accounts is a very busy and crucial department. Others dont know what goes on behind the scenes. I know the scientists where I work all think office workers, like me, sit around drinking coffee and trawling the internet all day!

We did something similar a few months back - and for our Finance team we created a Monopoly board, where people rolled to go round the board, and everything was related to the organisation (so different 'properties' were different activities that we undertook - jail was "go to the CEO's office")

Tokens were the gold coins you get at xmas time - so once they had played, they got to eat the chocolate coin. The money was daft money, with a picture of our CEO in the middle.

It went down really well.

At the simplest level, you could say your depts role is to gather money owing in as fast as possible and hanging on to that money for as long as possible before paying out.

But I would go with some funky Infographic, which lists out what you do, but keep it very simple and as above list out things like, Number of payments made annually, number of invoices processed, reports generated etc
