DMP - Paid 13 times

Hi,

Hope this hasn't been asked & answered 1000 times before...

I am on a DMP and have been for a few years now, I am paid 13 times per year but Stepchange obviously turn that into a 12 month figure to work out the budget.

This means that every 11/12 months I actually earn less than my budget allows for.

What is the best way to deal with this until my magic 13th month comes around later this year? (My company has helpfully moved my pay date around so it will be about 6 months later this year that I get my double month)

I guess once I get that double month I should put it into a savings account and use it to top up my normal monthly wage but how do I manage until then?

Should I work out my income based on the lower amount and do another review later in the year?

I always end up using the money I have put in the various budget pots to top up each month and then end up without anything in those when I need them.

Thanks

  • Edited - I totally misread the post! :-s

Could youbjot contact SC and let them know this, see if they can re-work a suitable monthly amount?

Gosh you must be getting paid every 4 weeks, it sounds a pain to budget with.
You could miss a payment and then save this up somewhere.
You could reduce your payments so you can meet them easier.
As you said when you get paid twice in 1 month you should be back on track.
I would speak to StepChange and see what they suggest, you can't be the only person on a slightly different wage pattern.
