Is it possible to have an attachement of earnings order retracted?

When I was younger I accummulated a load of fines (stupid I know) but I have been paying them over the last 2 years at £30 per month which the courts were happy with.
I moved home in December last year (2013) and had 3 months mail forwarding on. In January I received a letter saying I had to attend court for an assessment of where the fines where up to...as I was due to be away when the court date was I rang them and asked could U re-schedule, the guy on the phone said not to worry as because I made regular payments they would more than likely be happy for current arrangement to continue. He also said just wait to hear from them, I told him I had moved, gave him my new address and he said fine.
I have heard nothing since until today when I received an email from accounts at my workplace to say they had received an attachment of earnings order for £704 to be deducted in June and July and £500 in August.
I rang the court and explained everything, the guy was helpful but said they couldnt retract an attachment of earnings...what can I do?
I really cant afford to pay any more than the £30 per month I was paying and certainly not the amount they have ordered.

I would try giving national debtline a call for some advice on this.

As far as I am aware the best you could do would be to ask for the AoE to be varied using an N244 form.
