Agreement in Principle reduced - advice please

Hi,
I was given an agreement in principle from Halifax, i still have about 3 weeks left on it and we made an offer based on it.
I have gone back to them to get the process rolling as the offer was accepted, but they now say rules have changed and are offering a lot less, about 20%, can i not push it to i only need them to give me around £6000 more than they are offering me.
Will i need to do the whole process with them with a new application, or should i go to a broker or a different bank?

Can you adjust the term of the mortgage, so you can borrow a little more, or are you at the maximum?
There are very few lenders who will lend more than Halifax, but a broker would be a good idea to ensure you are getting what you can...I am a mortgage broker. for the sake of £600 then just pay a little more as the deposit - that way the amount you are borrowing is in line... AIP's just that its 'in principle'.. once you've offered a full application and survey will be undertaken..0

Looks like you'll have to try another lender.
I'd suggest a good broker rather than trying a number of lenders at random as that may make things worse.0 -
