Hi all
I was hoping that by entering a diary here on this section of the forum, it might help keep me on track.
So a bit of my background, I started to get into debt pretty much 10 years exactly ago. It is so long ago that I can't ever remember not having credit card minimum payments and loan repayments taking away the bulk of my salary.
Since about 2009 I have been in £30k+ of debt. And despite making payments every month to all of the credit cards and loans, the balances haven't reduced.
I've had a few "this is the last time I do this" times when I have remortgaged the house to pay some debts, or taking out a bigger loan to cover some smaller ones, or skipped a mortgage payment to free up a bit of money that month.
Things came to a head less than a week ago and on Monday this week I contacted StepChange to discuss a DMP.
So here I am..... about to go into a DMP....
I'll let you know how I get on!

I still haven't got my basic bank account set up yet and now I am away for a week (only in the uk) so I just have some cash in my pocket and when that's gone, it's gone.
It's a very strange feeling!~~I am debt free~~0 -

Good luck
Its always hard in the beginning - if you are keeping track in a book or spreadsheet (I love spreadsheets
) you will start to get extra inspiration as you see it starting to go down. Keep hanging around here - I found it helped me loads because firstly you get support from people going through the same thing (even though you might feel alone) and secondly there are loads of tips and goals to keep motivating you.
