Council Tax Summons

Hi, I am looking for some advice if possible, this may be in the wrong place so I apologise but I'm trying to help my mum who has been issued a council tax summons for arrears.
We do not dispute that she owes some money but it is the amount which we dispute, over the 2013/2014 year she has been sent around 26 different council tax bills all with the wrong amounts. They state she was getting benefits that she wasn't but don't take into accounts the ones she was. She rang them on many occasions and we went to see them to try and explain face to face but we just got told we needed to pay the outstanding asap with no answers to our questions.
They have also now added this year's to the summons so it is for over £2000 which she cannot pay in one go.
Is it worth us speaking to the council again before court?

My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0

Try talking to the Citizens Advice Bureau. They should be able to point you in the right direction.SPC7 ~ Member#390 ~ £432.45 declared :j
