I am trying to eat healthy at the moment and lose a little.
Am having at least 4pieces of Fruit during the day and sometimes vegetables @ Tea time
Im a person who always seems to be hungry and its so tempting to have a Biscuit or some chocolate when I go into the Kitchen
Does anyone have any suggestions for Low Calorie or healthy snacks that I can eat

not necessarily moneysaving, but japanese rice crackers are what keep me going when i'm trying to diet.
you can get a big bag for about £2.99 from Julian Graves and i find this lasts me ages. they make an excellent alternative to crisps.
homemade cereal bars are also good.
here's the recipe index for snacks and such: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=480391&postcount=10
it won't all be healthy/diet-friendly, but might get you started in the right direction0 -
Maybe you could divide up your current food intake to spread it throughout the day? Could you halve/quarter pieces of fruit to keep in the fridge so you eat them more slowly?
I always eat fruit between meals rather than with them so that a)I can eat more often and b)my snacks are healthy. (I gain weight easily but am at a healthy weight I am happy with, at the moment!)
Olives are quite a healthy snack apart from the salt content - how is your blood pressure?!0 -
Sweet chilli ryviita minis!0

Well I usually have a Banana for breakfast or midmorning as i decided to stop eating Toast for breakfast.
I normally have a Sandwich @ lunchtime usually containing some Meat of some sort, lettuce n tomato. and then an Apple & pear.
Cant really spread that out as id still be lol.0 -
Frozen grapes or bags of frozen berries (buy from Iceland, much cheaper than other shops). All good for a sweet tooth.
I'd be starving if I ate as little as you - could you add some clear soup such as miso, broth or hot bovril?0 -
For me, Julian Graves is quite a Godsend - i munch on raw cashew nuts, dried apricots, sunflower seeds. I get OH peanuts and raisins etc covered in chocolate, so when he's munching them on the sofa, i'll have a little bowl of seeds etc with a couple of choccie covered ones mixed in for a treat.
Ryvita and low fat cheesey spread keep me from the biscuit tin - especially sesame Ryvita. Baby tomatoes in the fridge and grapes - things I can nibble easily!

I don't know how low fat granola is but I'm really into a bowl of this with low fat natural yoghurt as a snack at the moment.
Also if I'm getting a 'need for sugar' attack and I am determined not to give in I juice some carrots and apple and drink that slowly while watching tv as this is my weakest time when I love to eat crisps, sweets, chocolates anything really.
I am very lucky that I don't seem to put weight on easily but I do try to curb my sweet tooth for health reasons and also my skin suffers from being dry and having breakouts if I don't watch what I put in my body.
My biggest fault is not drinking enough I'm seriously bad at this and apparently you can think you are hungry when you are dehydrated?? So maybe add more liquid to your diet.
Good luck0 -
I found that I lost the most weight by eating every 2 hours. Honestly!
You just do as Plum Pie suggests & spread your eating out throughout the day.
eg if you'd normally have cereal & a banana for breakfast, have the cereal at 8, and the banana at 10. Then 2 hours later it;'s time for lunch - sandwich at 12, apple at 2. 4pm snack is a yoghurt, 6pm is dinner, 8pm is pudding - another yoghurt or piece of fruit.
You just make sure that it's all healthy, ie no super deluxe creamy yoghurts!
The theory is you never get hungry, and your blood sugar stays more constant. Great for snackers & grazers who hate the thought of dieting because they're going to go hungry.
Current favourite pudding in this house are lemonade sparkle lollies - only 47 calories per lolly and great for sweet cravings. If you could make your own lollies even better.0
