These are my suggested answers but what do I know? Any disagreements/other answers welcomed, please post below. Particularly question 9 where my Googling suggests that the match was in August 1998 and not 1997 and as far as I can find, Steve James played his second and last match for England.

    I've also searches on question 9 & agree with your points - I checked cricinfo & there was not match between the countries in 1997
    proud gran to 4 lovely boys and one little girl

    Cricinfo has the only game between Sri Lanka and England at the Oval in 1998 not 97, and Steve James did make his last test appearance in that game
