Term-time role - entitled to holiday pay?

Assuming term time is 39 weeks of the year she would be entitled to at least 4.7 weeks holiday0

IF you go down the route of spread the pay over 12 months then make sure the termination conditions are well documented to make sure the pay is correct when leaving.
Often term time contracts have special notice terms.
Holiday prorata calculations differ slightly if holidays are included in the contracted work period or on top of the contract work period.
Typically term time workers take their holidays in the part of the year they are not normaly working so need to either have rolled up holiday pay(which needs to be documented properly) or get paid extra on top of the working weeks.
For the holidays one way to do the calculation is the % method.
For "normal" full time(52 weeks) workers getting the statutory holidays of 5.6 weeks you work 46.4(52-5.6) weeks to earn 5.6 weeks holiday 12.07%
every week you work you earn 0.1207 weeks holiday pay.
That makes the 39 week term time have 4.707 weeks holiday pay.
another way is the ratio. 5.6 * 39/46.4 which is the same
There can be an small issue if any holidays are taken in a working week, but I think most of the time the BH are include in non working weeks most years.
If they do not understand that term time workers get holiday pay what do they do for other part timers?0 -
When I was a lollipop lady I got paid my holiday pay entitlement and then a retainer for the remaining school holidays. My holidays were taken within the school holidays, I could not have time off in term time, which was fair enough imho.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
