Why do Companis send employers abroad? (abroad branches), for weeks, but why ?

Some uk companies, which have branches abroad worldwide send their employers to different branches for some weeks or even months, to do the 'same' job as they are doing in this current branch.
Why would they do this? what reasons?
(I am mainly asking for going abroad to do the 'same' job as you are doing in this uk branch...
is one reason, to get them to work in a different environment?
have you worked abroad, (being sent abroad by your employer to an abroad branch?)
howcome you got sent there ?

Have you been asked? If so, what reason did your employer give?0

Usually due to staff shortages or part of the role is having to work abroad for a set amount of time. If your contract states, as does mine, something like "you may at time be required to work in a loaction that is not your base" then they can send you wherever, within reason.0

I've worked in NYC and Frankfurt in the past, and it was either to provide cover, to share my knowledge wiith the staff there, to get to know my team (I had staff in other centres) or just to see how business worked out there.
Things run far smoother when you know and get on with the people on the other end of the phone.0 -
Perhaps to show the abroad company a taste of an employer from a different country, so they see a uk worker.0

Perhaps it's to give the employee's colleagues a break. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

I would take that as a positive move; being able to experience overseas culture, different methods of doing things, meeting new people, bringing useful skills to the table notwithstanding the boost to your CV if you ever have to look for another job.
This benefit of only tangible if the employer is fully expensing the person sent.0 -
Could be for many reasons, main 1 I guess is to give cover but they could send you abroad to learn/pick up experience using a different or a new system thats been in use for a while and your normal place of work is due to have the system in place soon.
Id love to work for an employer who sends staff to various locations.0
