Will missed credit card payments from 4 years ago affect mortgage application?

I'm hoping to apply for a mortgage within the next year with my partner, but I'm concerned that as I have missed payments on my credit report from 2010 I'll be turned down.

Has anyone had missed payment history but still been accepted for mortgage?

Otherwise I have a good credit history and my score is high. Since the missed payments I was accepted for a credit card and an interest free personal loan for laser eye surgery so it's not affected these however I know mortgages are different. And my partner has a clean record.

Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I wouldn't worry about 1! I have one late payment on my report from 2011. Otherwise I have a perfect credit history. My mortgage broker said that she would not expect this to influence their decision in the slightest. Obviously this depends on other factors also (affordability, amount of debt).

Some lenders might refuse you, others wouldn't mind or might offer you something other than their very best deals. It sounds as if you missed a number of payments rather than just one. Has the debt now been repaid? If so, check that your credit reports are marked as "settled".

I missed 4 payments in a row because I changed address. I informed the bank of my change in address and they have record of this although when I requested a copy of my statements from this period they were still sending them to my previous address. I'm wondering if I can have the late payments removed on this basis?

I'm also hoping that the fact this was 4 years ago influences their decision!

Be careful with this one and don't go direct to Lender as a number will reject you.

Did you forget that you had the account?

I have three late payments in 2011/12 and have just signed for a mortgage. I went to my bank. Might not be right for you but I felt I had a better chance with someone who could see the evidence of me having paid off about £20k in 6 months. L&C brokered for me in the past. I quite liked them.

For this mortgage I took a file into the meeting with me. I took my credit report, highlighted the late payments and explained what had caused the problems .
