Help please (Tricky one)

Hi, here`s my problem

My father in law (Who is a very hard working man from poland who arrived 10 years ago) started working with an agency in 2006. However he was given a full time contract with minimum hours, fixed pay rate and statutory holidays etc.

Since i`ve been married to his daughter for 5 years now she has been dealing week after week with his employers who under pay him almost every week. This has become an unwanted regular part of our lives. How is he meant to pay his bills when he is on minimum wage and underpaid by between 50 and 150 pounds every week.

Its as though the accounts dept are doing it on purpose.. like they can`t add up

We`ve tried solicitors, CIB, interviews, emails, phone calls. He always gets his money eventually but then again they underpay him and it begins again.

Is there any way I can get involved even though as far as they can say this is none of my business but... it is in a way because it is affecting my life.

Any advice would be appreciated. Any questions i`m right here. Thanks

Not really other than by helping in the background. The firm is under no obligation to communicate with you.

I would strongly suggest he joins a union. Although they won't help with past problems they would be able to assist in any future disputes.

I don't understand why he would put up for this for 8 years rather than get another job.

It got to the stage where the redundancy payment was valuable to him.. He now refuses to leave or he will lose the 8 years redundancy.

They actually tried to make him redundant in 2012 but when we showed them proof he had a contract and was due redundancy they kept him on.

Its rather short minded to stay somewhere you don't like and have issues because you *may* get a small payout.

Correct, this is what i`ve been telling him for 5 years.. but i guy with little money and little chance of another job won`t turn away from it... he hasn`t got the balls i`m afraid.
