new job offer

hello,

so i went for a promotion at work and got it! :)

before applying i ask if the money was negotiable as i felt the money they were offering was too low by about 3k. my question is now i have been offered the job should i go back again and ask for more money before signing the contracts?

there was only be and 1 other that went for the job and they said i was a much stronger person so that why i got it. its a small company that base the wages on the NHS pay bands. they are saying that i can only start on the bottom point of the next band. i want them to just put me on a different point within the same band.

what do people think? i don't want to look thick and make myself look like a !!!! as i want to move up within the company again in the next few years.

That is how NHS pay bands work. Despite all the press and politician hullabaloo about incremental rises and 'unearned' payrises. You start on a relatively low rate and prove that you can do the job. The increments then roll in until you get paid the rate for the job several years in, by which point you are presumed to be good at it.
