Pre employment screening and defaults, UBS

Hi,

I am in a bad situation financially, I have 13 unpaid defaults totaling around 70K, due to many years of unemployment and huge losses on a house sale.

I have now finally an offer from UBS but not sure if the per-employment screening will pass or fail.

Anyone has any idea of this please?

I need to get in to be able to pay, and I'm stuck in a catch-22.. please help!!

I'm afraid that there's just not much that you can do about it, assuming the defaults are legitimate. It really depends what the role is, but the odds are that UBS as a financial services firm will credit check you and if your defaults etc are less than 6 years old they will show up.

It's not automatic that they won't hire you, but I'd start to look for roles outside of financial services... there are many employees that won't credit check you in other fields.

  • Hi,

I am in a similar position.

I have just accepted a position as a residential valuation surveyor for a firm of chartered surveyors.

The company has pre employment screening to satisfy the banks who they carry out mortgage valuations for.

My credit history and payments are all up to date and settled. However, in 2011 I had a personal loan and credit card which went into a debt management arrangement. Both were settled in 2012 and my score is now fair.

Does anyone have any experience of this and is it likely to be raised as a concern on the screening?
  • In addition to my previous post, I have also recently had a mortgage agreed in principle which i see as a positive.
