Travel with P&O from Larne to Troon with a dog

Hi
I have just had a rather frustrating, highly amusing and expensive phone call with P&O. If you are travelling with a pet you book online and then have to call them on their 10p a minute number to say you are taking your dog.
The lady told me that now it was noted on my booking form I was bringing an animal. I asked for some confirmation I had called to say I had registered my dog in case I was challenged at Larne and Troon. She said she could resend my booking form but didn't know if it would be written on it anywhere but it was on her system. I asked her had she noted it was a dog and I was told it was noted as an animal. So it seems I could have any animal in my car:)
I asked if I needed any documentation for my dog and was told I needed a Pet passport! I am pretty sure you don't however I would be interested if anyone has travelled recently with a dog and how they got on etc?
Many thanks.

It sounds like you were speaking to the call centre in Dover. The majority of their animal bookings are for the continent, where a pet passport is needed.
P&O computer system has a code: Animal booked. When I worked there, anything other than a domestic pet was dealt with via the frieight dept.
Northern Ireland to Scotland does not need any paperwork.
It has been 5 years since I left the company, so things may have changed.
(I very much doubt it though)0 -
Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments. What you have described fits with my conversation. Much appreciated.0

2 years ago no documentation was required either. I imagine it's unlikely it would have changed since then.0

My son brings his two dogs over all the time no paperwork required0

Thanks guys. The consensus seems to be there is no paperwork needed. I can rest easy now. Thank you for helping me out0
