Cannot exchange item as i've moved house!

Hello all

I bought a car seat from Boots website 6 months ago which has developed a fault, however they have refused to exchange it for a replacement as we moved from the address it was originally delivered to.

The car seat was on offer at the time of buying (£115) which they have offered to refund, however the car seat is now back up to its original RRP of £170. We wouldn't be able to buy an exact replacement!

Are they right to refuse an exchange based on the fact we've moved? I can't see how the address is relevant when it's the item that is faulty, and still under warranty.

Thanks for any help

Alan

Maybe it's semantics... are they saying it is because you have moved, or that you haven't proved that you lived at the previous address?

You must have something that ties you to your previous address and current address.... e.g. household hills/bank statements.

Makes no difference what the excuse is, they are entitled to refund it, you have no right to insist on a replacement.

They've offered a full refund of the purchase price even though you've had 6 months use. Most would be happy with that and they don't have to offer more.

    Thanks for the replies.

I probably should have written that they did agree to exchanging it until they realised we had moved address. I wasn't sure if there was a reason why they might do that.

We have lots of utility bills and other paperwork confirming both old and new addresses.

They probably think that you are not the original purchaser and are just using your name.

As above, they are entitled to offer you a full refund, you can't force them to give you an exchange. Perhaps you should give one more try and tell them you can prove that you are the original purchaser.

Email head office. I found customer service, there, to be excellent.
