Finding a Mortgage Broker

I have read the forums, and Martin's advice. Before I start hunting for a local Whole of Market adviser, is there a list somewhere that I can use as a starting point in my search for the right broker for me?

Personally I would say google.
There is a website called unbiased.co.uk - but it does not have every broker on there.
On a side note, as of last month there is not "whole of market"/"independent" etc. Brokers just need to make you aware of what their limitations are - although you will probably still find a lot of brokers do label themselves as WoM/Independent.
Also, personally I think Martins advice is a little bit dodgy. He says to go with fee free brokers... You get what you pay for in this world and I used to be fee free when I was starting out. I did not know anywhere near as much as I know now and so I charge for my knowledge and probably most importantly, my contacts. If/when issues do arise, I know who I need to speak to to get something resolved.
Thats not to say there is anything wrong with fee free, but I would consider whether it is worth paying for the extra knowledge/support/experience you will get.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. We used WiseOne as our broker/financial advisor. They looked at all lenders from what I can gather and they've been really helpful for us. They were free for us as they are being paid commission by the lender but I don't know if that applies to all cases. Hope this helps

If they are commission earners, you certainly didn't get all lenders as many do not accept business from brokers and do not pay commission, such as HSBC and Yorkshire Building Society.kitty_kins wrote: »We used WiseOne as our broker/financial advisor. You got what used to be known as "whole of market for commission paying products."I am a mortgage broker.
