Hair curlers

Hi Everyone,

I would love to be able to curl my hair. I love the whole beach wave look and my hair is long enough to do this. Unfortunately I have hair that really struggles to curl or hold the curls. I have used GHDs to curl my hair I have also had a wand and tongs and heated rollers. But nothing works.
My hair has no volume in it and I have used that volumiser powder but that was just a nightmare. The next day became an impossible task of trying to get a brush through my hair never again.
Can any of you lovely people help and give my some advice on products?

Thank you :-)

My long thick heavy hair could never hold a curl or wave until I started colouring it in my thirties ( to hide the grey) I don't whether this changes the structure or what, but never had any problem since!

I've tried the really expensive Babyliss perfect curl and it worked. Little more pricey than GHDs mind.

My hair is extremely flat and I always found that curls dropped out in minutes but now that's all different.

    My tips:
Use a wand - variable heat is best as then you can find what works best for your hair, mine was rather inexpensive
Was your hair, roughly towel dry it then use a hair dryer to get it 90/95% dry
    Section and curl
Spray each section/layer with a fine mist of quality hairspray, not loads just a bit
When finished flip your hair forward, tousel/loosen curls with your fingers, another fine mist of hairspray and toss it back...voila! :)

At first I had to use spray gel to get curls to hold but it goes very hard and naff during the day

    Hi All,

    Thank you for your tips.

My hair has been coloured loads of time but at the moment I am in the process of growing the colour out.
I have used a wand before and the curl did work but dropped after about an hour. I always towel dry my hair and then I add a very small amount of curling gel to my hair whilst damp and then blow dry.
I flip my hair forward as well and thats when my curls go funny :-( I think I just have flat hair. I do have a slight wave to it but it is more frizzy so when I do curl my hair it starts to get very frizzy and I look like i've been dragged through a bush backwards to put it nicely.

I think my hair just won't let me curl it and it's a shame as I would love to have the whole beach wave look :-)

    Thank you though.

The only way I can curl my hair for it hold for more than a few mins is the heat-less overnight headband curls (loads of tutorials on you tube).

I bought curlformers. They were a bit awkward to use first time but I have baby fine hair and left them in from wet. I found the best deal on their own website but Ama*on might have a deal?

Best solution I've found, after trying curling irons, heated rollers, babyliss procurl - everything under the sun basically, is bendy rollers.

My hair is poker straight, without trying. It just will not take a curl. If I use a curling mousse on wet hair, hair spray then put it up damp, sleep on it, take out, more spray and some curling touch up stuff in day it stays! It's an awful lot of messing around so is only something I do for occasions.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I am going to try the bendy rollers overnight. I am giving that a go on a Friday night so it will be ready for Sat. Hopefully all will go well.
I have stocked up on mousse and hairspray for that just in case :-)

One of the most highly rated curling tools at the moment is the Babyliss Secret Curl. I love the curly look but not deft with the wands. So I was looking for alternatives when I came across these. I've watched videos on YouTube and they look almost as easy as straighteners..
