When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big "stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending. :money:

    Morning all,
Today's list: Finish delivering Labour Party leaflets (free fitness!), laundry drying outside on line, rubber chicken activities (divvied up for 3 days of meals, 2 lunches plus soup), chicken stock in slow cooker, checked veggie garden, make loaf & a dozen bread rolls, bake biscuits & gingercake, fill tiny boxes with value raisins for work snacks, make tomorrow's packed lunch, clean house for guests coming tomorrow, progress knitting project, make soup.
Think that's quite enough. Have a good audio book to listen to in the kitchen while I work.
    Love to all,
    F x
2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!
  • Hello All

Feels good to be at work and back in front of a working computer (though OH tells me the laptop is working again - phew).

    Today I have/will:

    - Check online banking and spread sheet
    - All meals at home from plan
    - Lifts to and from work
    - Swapped library books
    - Knit a bit more of dads jumper (mum and dad arriving Friday for a quick visit)

That's all for now. Feeling really grotty again with cough that has been working it's way around my colleagues (one of those tickly ones - very irritating).

    Best wishes all x

    Hello all
Havent been on the Board for a while my house sale has been frustrating me and I have been living on a thread on the House Selling board.

Its been 12 weeks and I still don't know what is happening with my house - Estate agent and Solicitor are rubbish and I can't get hold of anyone and no contract signed or anything! boo

    I am very stressed!

    Today:

    Got to job one
    Go to job two
I filled in a job application form
I brought breakfast and lunch in to work
I need to pay some bills BOO
Have booked an apt with solicitor in the hope I will finally get to speak to him

Off now to cry into my cereal lol
