New secret diary

Options
Hi all,

I am lying in bed on ipad writing this as cant sleep, due to what?? Yes, thats right, DEBT. Secret debt at that.
Im not really sure how I got here but have a problem with spending beyond my means.
No one knows about this, especially not the OH. I will not be getting it all off my chest due to 2 reasons: 1, he would go mental and lose all faith in me and 2, its my problem and I need to deal with it.
I do have the means of sorting this out but it will take me at least 3 years and I need to start now using this diary to keep motivated.
My debts are as follows:
CC1 - 5200
CC2 - 4800
Loan - 13000
No interest for a yr on CC 1 and 2 yrs on CC2
Loan lasts for another four yrs but could pay off earlier if CC debt gets paid.
I will come back on with more details tomorrow. I simply must sort this out before my marriage and whole life is ruined:mad::eek::(:(
Any advice from folks in a similar situation would be very, very gratefully received.:)
Starting point:
CC £4900 - No int -
Loan £14,800 int 2000 approx
Catalogue - £2200 no int:mad::eek::mad:

£1400 paid off end of Feb 14 :T:T

welcome to the boards. Just wondering how you will keep your secret if you start economising on things. If you look on the site there is the statement of affairs you can fill in, which might give you some ideas as to where you can save.

Next ref the credit cards and the loan, is the loan charging interest? And does it allow overpayments? If it does then it might make more sense to pay the minimums on the cards and overpay the loan. You will save interest perhaps that way.

Finally did you only spend the money owed on yourself? If not then surely your OH would understand and help to pay it back?

    Good luck whatever you decide

Thanks for the reply. Yes, most of the debt has come from me I'm afraid. I would rather have a go at paying it all off and can do this without arousing too much suspicion as I have enough disposable income. I just need to stop using the cards and catalogues. He knows I have cards and catalogues but would go mental if he knew how much!!
At the end of the day I need to stop spending and pay this off. The loan has a facility to overpay and yes has an interest rate of 5%
I will put a full SOA on here and see what anyone thinks...:)

    Good luck :)

I'm tackling my debt alone too. I built it up, I'll pay it off. My DH knows I have some debt but doesn't know exactly what it is.

If you've had a shopping habit - catalogues etc, do you have things you can sell to increase your debt repayments?
