Hi
I have never wanted to claim Child Maintenance before, however due to a change in circumstances I am struggling financially.
My son is 17 years old and has recently left full time education (A levels).
He has registered with Connexions and is due to start a traineeship with ingeus imminently.
I have not been claiming Child Benefit for my son and understand I need to do this asap?
Am I entitled to claim Child Maintenance from my son's father?
He has a very good job and is a "pillar of the community".
I have asked if we can sort something out between us, but he just laughed at me.
He clearly has the morals of a wasp.

Check out the CMS website to see if you may qualify, I doubt your ex has the morals of a wasp, but that's by the by, the CMS webiste will guide to clarify if the child's circumstances qualify.0 -

My ex has steadfastedly refused to pay CS for any of our children for 16 years but I have managed to get him to agree to give our youngest an allowance of £100 a month to help her in 6th form. He seems to be slightly more agreeable to this than the whole CSA notion of supporting his children.
Could it be a worth try?0 -

Unless the apprenticeship is education based you'll be ineligible to claim CB once he starts.0 -

The OP's son has registered with Connexions which means that she is entitled to claim a run on of Child Benefit.
The traineeship will be part of Connexions programme.
