Hello Mysteek - Just popped in as I read your diary and thought I would wish you good luck on your journey.

You sound a little like me age wise with the worry of retirement creeping on. I'm quite private too and am attempting my own debt-free journey without making any of my friends and family aware of the size of my debt and without alerting them to the fact I'm actually trying to clear debt in the first place! I've had some marvellous, non-judgemental support on this board since I started out a short time ago and I am sure you will too. You definitely sound like you have organised things well at the outset.

I was sorry to read about your mum and dad - this must have been so distressing for you, but many congratulations on the birth of your little granddaughter.

I'll continue to pop in and see how you are getting in and look forward to reading more of your entries.:)

Ah thanks so much Seasidegal for popping by and wishing me luck on my journey, I do appreciate the time and effort in doing so.

Yes where does the time go, far too quickly. I sometimes feel a little panicky when I think of the time slipping away and hope I have enough time to accomplish what I want and start to enjoy life. I keep thinking of the day I can wake up and realise I'm debt free and try to think what that feels like. I can't wait. I'm really impatient and want to do everything like NOW! But I have to slow myself and take things one step at a time. It certainly would be nice to have other things to think about!

My DH knows how much debt we're in but he's not too good at managing money so its always been left to me to sort out. I think I should have got a job in a circus as I became very adept at juggling lol

I haven't spoken to any other family members, maybe its cos I'm a little proud and embarrassed and feel that its not a good example to set for my kids. And I would be mortified if friends and work colleagues found out. So I do understand that you want to do this by yourself in your own way and I wish you all the luck in the world. I'm sure you will succeed. :):)

Hi just wanted to say good luck with your journey. I once kept my debt to myself but I got brave and told my mam it has helped to keep myself on track. Hope your OH is a good support for you, you need to be able to talk to someone sometimes even if it is just to shout at lol.
Sorry to hear about your man and hope your dad has a speedy recovery.

A couple more things to add to the list above:

Packed lunches - always take my own lunch to work as I have to eat gluten free

Tea and coffee - free at work

Change pot - having been doing this for a couple of years as DH gets paid mostly in cash theres lots of change. Banked £76 last week!

Listing on here does help you to remember what you've done so far

I'm still a bit of a newbie on here and still finding my way around the forums, how do I find my own diary? Is there a favourite button or something.

At the top of your diary on the coloured bar, click on 'Thread Tools' and then choose 'subscribe to this thread'. Each time you want to find it, you can then go to 'Quick Links' on the green bar above and pick 'Subscribed Threads' - you'll find yours in that list then.

That's how I do it anyway! But there could be a different or easier way, so am hoping someone comes along to advise. :D

Hi again, you seem to be really organized, and am enjoying keeping up with your diary. I would like to do a diary but want to change my user name but don't no how, mine is a bit obvious and am a bit embarrassed to put it on under that user name. I like the idea of listing all the things you are going to change and do very positive x
