I didn't catch the thread when he went missing but glad he is back.

My cat Jessie has been missing nearly a year now and the family cat Harry went missing not long after. It is horrible having a missing cat out there , i am glad your story had a happy ending.

I now keep my cat Salem as a house cat , after losing Jessie i couldn't risk him going out.

So sorry to hear about Jessie and Harry :(:( The house feels so empty and that there is something important missing when a kitty spirit isn't there. I do hope Jessie and Harry turn up eventually even though it is such a long time. It's the not knowing that is the worst thing........I really feel for you - two days of no kitty was bad enough. Take care.
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

OP, is he neutered? It won't stop him going missing again, but he is less likely to wander if he isn't after females on heat.

Yes geri1965, he has been castrated. He is not a wanderer at all, only out for a few hours at most. We keep the kits in at night as well.

One of mine went missing for 3 days once. He only used to pop out into the garden for half an hour or so and then come back in. But this day he didn't come back. We leafleted and knocked on doors etc and he turned up 3 days later, covered in dust, so he'd been locked in somewhere or maybe he'd fallen in a wheelie bin on bin day.

He mostly stayed in after that.

Glad you got your cat back. Last month my cat went missing on the one night she didn't sleep in my room. I had a dream that she was dying and the next day when she hadn't came home to eat we thought something was strange. We found her in pieces on a road nearby so I'm glad the same didn't happen to yours.
