Affiliate marketing

Hi all

With the misses going on maternity leave soon I'm trying to think of ways of boosting our household income. Does anyone do affiliate marketing? And if you do how do you do it? Website/emails? Does it also pay very well?

Hi Chris,

I started Affiliate Marketing a few months ago. It is not a get rich quick scheme and earnings vary greatly depending upon your chosen niche, how much work you put into your sites, and many other variables. Some people make 6 figure incomes as Affiliate Marketers, others make little or nothing at all.

I am nearing the end of my 3rd month and my May 2014 earnings will be just over $600. The great thing about Affiliate Marketing is that there are very few business start-up costs and your past content keeps earning passive income whilst you create more content for your site(s).

I would post links to my sites to let you see how much work is involved to get to this stage, but I'm pretty sure that it's against the forum rules. If you want to discuss the issue more openly, I am an active member of TheMoneyShed.co .uk and have kept a contemporaneous diary of my attempts to make money online as an IM.

NB: There are lots of scam sites offering to sell you the "secret" to making lots of money quickly and they are to be avoided. The truth is that there is no such "secret", just hard work and a basic ability to write good content for your sites. But, there certainly is money to be made if you are determined and take time to learn some basic website creation / SEO techniques.

Thanks for the reply. I'm a firm believer of you get out what you put into things. The more effort I put into this the more we could potentially earn. I'm not expecting this to make 6 figure sums, although that would be nice! We are not extravagant people, we would just like enough money to pay the bills. I already have an idea for a website and a name, I just need to register it and set up the website.

I am about to start a similar thing although with information products (ebooks) instead. Any pointers you might give? have you had success with it?

Internet affiliate marketing may be the procedure for earning the commission by marketing other's (or company's) items. You discover an item you prefer, promote it to others, as well as earn an item of the net income for every sale which you create.

Very informative post

If you dont mind me asking how many hours did you put in to earn $600. I am quite impressed seeing as it is only your 3rd month. Do you have previous experience working online?
