Is there a use for an old single duvet?

I've just replaced my dd duvet, before I throw the old one away I was wondering if there's a use for it? Other than it's original use obviously. It does need a clean.
I have an allotment, is there a use for it there?
It might be that there's no use for it and I will bin it, but it seemed wasteful to just chuck it in to landfill if it could have another use.

Do you know anyone with a dog? I use old duvets as dog beds or to protect furniture.0

If you find no use don't just bin it. Take it to charity shop or put in a clothing bank they will get something for it even if they just sell on for textile recycling.
If you like the fabric could you not cut it up and do crafts or sew something out of it?:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0 -
if there are any horse sanctuarys / rescue centres near you they can use the duvets under the normal rugs to provide extra warmth for the horses0

It could be used as a weed preventer for a while but it will rot down - at least the cover will. Give it a wash in your WM if you can then hang it out to dry. Then you can pass it onto a local pet rehoming rescue centre as they often need them.0

Single duvets will go in the washing machine and dry on the line.
My old duvet is on the sofa. We sit on it.
I always keep the sofa covered as it is a cream sofa bed.
You could wash your duvet and keep it for occasional sleep overs.
Keep some of the stuffing for crafting.

Wash it and then put it on top of your mattress when it gets colder in the winter, put your sheet on top when you make up the bed and you'll be toasty warm no matter how cold the weather is outside.0

Oops I think I misread, I thought it was the duvet cover but it seems it is the duvet. Must admit we have taken old duvets to the tip and they do go in the landfill bin.
