Halifax - really quick offer? Anxious.

It's me AGAIN. With FTB anxiety AGAIN.
We made our full application on the 28th following our DIP that same morning. All documents were sent on the same day. Our survey was booked for the the 29th (yesterday) and we received an offer today. It has been sent out in the post and should be with us Monday/Tues.
I'm no expert. But is this unusually quick? I'm worried they haven't done the underwriting yet, but they surely do before mortgage offer? Can someone virtually slap me and tell me to shut up and celebrate?

Don't take what you read on here to be respresentative of the wider mortgage market.

Haha, I was going to say something along the same lines! :rotfl:

    Just be happy/relieved!

... Or if you really want to worry, you can start getting anxious about exchange and all the conveyancing? ;)

You know what, i really did. I thought every horror story was going to happen to me. Well, my top priority of worry now is them pulling the mortgage offer because they found out i bought a loaf of bread or something silly. I'm starting to get excited now though....! I'll probably be posting in the next few days about something solicitor related. Though, we have no chain our side, they have no chain their side so i'm hoping it's going to go smoooooooothly. *touch wood*. Happy weekend everyone!x
  • Congratulations!!
Halifax seem to be very quick lately (it took 8 calendar days from putting in application to full mortgage offer in my case)
Anyone have any idea how long it takes when no chain is involved from mortgage offer to completion?

No chain can mean very little. As this in itself throw up a number of potential scenarios. What creates the delays is the issues that the purchase creates and the parties in the chain having their own agendas. As its timing and convenience that drives many people not speed.
