rockwell - theft?

On Thursday 5th July 2007 I rang rockwell debt collection agency on behalf of my boyfriend who hadn't received his payment book for repaying his debt of about £6000 (nor the credit agreement they said they would send)it transpired that they only had his old address so we updated it and were told the book and the cca would be sent to his new address (still nothing though)he was asked to make the 1st payment over the phone, for which i paid using my credit card and was told it would be 1 payment of £134.00.I have checked my credit card statement and noticed they have charged me twice!!!!! - same amount, same date.I rang them and got through to a rather ditzy girl who said they only had records of them putting it through once and the accounts dept had gone home for the day and would ring me tomorrow morning (tues 10th) first thing.I would assume that this is technically theft of fraud. Can I use this to make them wipe the dept and remove it from the credit agencies???

You can work from the other direction.
Contact your credit card company and tell them that one of those transactions is wrong. They will freeze it, contact the other company and ask for proof that the transaction should stand. If no proof; they will advise that the transaction will be reversed.
This procedure is very simple!

Quite correct - the Credit Card Company will, normally, cover you for this type of error.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Natwest had the same problem over the weekend. Double charged all my transactions but the money has now been refunded! They say you can't put a value on life... but I live it at half price!0
