When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big "stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

Morning everyone, sorry I havent been around much lately, I got out of hospital on Tuesday after having a bad chest infection which affected my asthma :( So a few chilled days before back to work on Monday!

Today I will;
  • Swagbucks
  • Nectar Canvass/adpoints
  • Check online banking
  • Open basic account for bills/shopping
  • Check ebay
  • Take things back to Asda
:) x

    Thanks for starting us off katy! Can you put the smilie in the title please? Makes it easier to find!

    Yay to Friday! Have a long weekend ahead :D Have taken today off as just feeling so done in over work, feel like my interview was totally unfair - got my feedback the other day & my report that I worked ages on was even marked because it wasn't in the format they wanted, but that I wasn't told about :( several of my answers they didn't record fully, and also several of the answers they said weren't right, but I stand by they were - technical housing stuff. I have raised an appeal, but feel the whole process has been handled so badly. It's just over a week since it happened and I haven't even been contacted to see if I'm ok, need any support or guidance :( I hate that I have taken it so badly as well

    Anyway Small (and big ;)) things

    * [STRIKE]checked banking & cc statement - no change[/STRIKE]
    * [STRIKE]did VSP & updated SS[/STRIKE]
    * LSD just a carrot & potatoes Scrap this as am popping to Aldis. Think week's shopping/things for the festival will come in at under £20. STICKING to the list!
    *[STRIKE] taking the day to get my head together[/STRIKE]
    * [STRIKE]fill in job application[/STRIKE] Have started it, weirdest application form ever! Have done a good 3 1/2hrs on it. Am about 2/3s-3/4s of the way through. Will leave it now, do some more tomorrow morning when I'm up early & some on Sunday evening when we get home. Ready for submission before 9am on Monday
    * bake lemon drizzle cake, cookies, cheese jacks, mini pizzas & potato, onion & cheese pasties for the festival :j [COLOR="rgb(255, 0, 255)"]So far have made pasties & they are in the oven, the pizza base sauce, waiting for oh to come home with some other ingredients before making deserts/Cheese Jacks [/COLOR]
    * logged on to the festival website last night to buy tickets and they had released some "Saturday" tickets for £30 instead of weekend for £50. Saturday tickets are from 10am Saturday to the evening Sunday including camping :T
    * [STRIKE]check onepoll[/STRIKE]
    * [STRIKE]all meals from stores[/STRIKE]
    *[STRIKE] something out of freezer for dinner[/STRIKE]
    *[STRIKE] make a list of things to buy for the festival to go to Aldi [/STRIKE]
    * do some form of exercise to lift my spirits
    * bottle of wine & a film tonight
    * a load of washing & hang out - decided there wasn't enough to do. Jeez it's been a while since I could say that!
    * researched how to remove the mastic my db did yesterday which he royally messed up :mad: accused me of it being my fault and we had a massive barney. Have resolved the bad feeling but we have come to the end of the road with db doing work in our house! It was good while it lasted and saved us several thousands :). Need to either learn how to do the remaining jobs or pay people :(

    Think that's it for me today. Hope it's a money saving one for all of you x

    It was my job. I have been doing it for the past year on a FTC. I was employed as a FTC as they knew they would be announcing a restructure as was told when I was offered the job, but was told at the end of the year I would be made permanent as long as my conduct and performance was good :( I now leave on 27th June

    Morning all,
    What, no rain? Might even get an hour in the veggie garden later as it's mr f's cooking night.
    Today's small list of positive things:
    *Free exercise delivering Labour Party leaflets. Enjoyed the walk.
    *Spent £14 at village butcher. For this, I got a 4lb chicken, 2lbs stewing steak, a ham hock & a pot of chicken livers. Lots of meals there!
    *£24 from selling mr f's old phone landed in bank today so transferred it across to bathroom fund.
    *Did available surveys (very few)
    *Postman brought another £10 John Lewis voucher from Toluna Surveys which has been added to my 'Kenwood Chef' stash :-)
    *Had email last night to say I'd won a £10 Amazon voucher for 'best comment' on an online forum I'm on at the moment. Nice surprise, will buy a couple more things for the present box with that.
    *Big grocery shop to do this afternoon - starting with Co-op as have £5 off a £20 spend, then Waitrose, & Aldi to stock up store cupboard. List made & will be sticking to it unless there is the most unimaginably amazing bargain.....which there almost certainly won't be!
    *Mend cardigan.
    *Continue knitting project.
    *Finish library book if I get time.
    DNMS - Sorry you are still feeling so bad. It's completely natural. I've been in that exact same place myself, so has mr f. It makes you feel so unvalued. I'm glad you have challenged the decision. I've been on several interview panels & it's so important that proper notes are made by the interviewers so that they can give proper feedback to the candidates later, as well as deal with challenges of unfairness or bias. It sounds to me as though insufficient notes were made for your challenge to be dealt with properly. What a poor situation. It sounds like internal re-structure politics to me, but I agree it stinks.

    2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
    Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!

    Determined new ms. Terribly sorry about what you are going through with your job.It is unbearable to be treated in that way .You must feel so powerless. We have to face similar judgements in lesson observations at school by people who do not care or have the insight to understand. I am spending the rest of the day trying to get my back well enough to stand up to be able to go back to work next week. Had a no spend week however!
