Thanks GG, I've started a list of things we need to take in our first trip and had completely forgotten tea - remembered the kettle though!
First weekend we will move some stuff over and start sorting electrics, change locks etc. We won't be staying there until the weekend before Christmas.1 -
Today's the day  :j Due to exchange at 9.00am
Am on annual leave today but am up, showered, dressed, fed other half and am just enjoying a quick cuppa before I get started on packing :T
Need to get on to the insurers first thing to get the insurance in place.
I've received my JLP credit card so will call and activate that and put the insurance on it so we can pay that off over 6 months.
In the not so good news, OH was the victim of attempted fraud this week. His internet banking was hacked and the fraudsters got our BT line diverted to their mobile so they could try and transfer funds out of our account.
Luckily our bank had a flag on the account they tried to transfer to so the transaction was blocked and the internet access was frozen and they didn't get anything.
I would love to have seen their faces when they saw how much money was there last week before we transferred it to the solicitorsToo late suckers!

Have so many things crossed for you sis, I can barely type.
Will raise a glass to you both this evening, all being well.
And send a large virtual raspberry to the fraudulent swines!

So, it's happened, we now have a mortgage
Or as OH puts it, we now have a massive debt!
Saturday OH and his dad changed the distribution board and wired that in but are less than impressed with the electrics. Rewiring the house was always on the list so not a surprise but there are two urgent jobs - to rewire the immersion heater as it seems like it is wired into a plug at present and keeps tripping the board and also to rewire (and replace) the shower.
I've got a huge to do list today, including calling the Building Society to set up online access, find out when first payment will go out etc.
Then try and get something sorted re heating oil - we don't know if the tank is okay or if the boiler works so trying to find out if we can buy a barrel of oil and then book an engineer ;to service the boiler. Will be a spendy month but on the plus side we don't need much in way of groceries and the electric bills at the new house will be minimal - as we can only have one thing on at a time :rotfl:
Exciting but nervous times, sat in the cold yesterday, I think we realised just how big a project this will be1 -
_pale_ Oh my goodness to the fraud attempt _pale_.
Glad you're in, here's to the future and congratulations on your massive debt .A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Congratulations on becoming a home owner
The fraud thing is scary though - sounds very professionalEarly retired - 18th December 2014

:hello::hello:Hi GG and GG!
I found an article on the Guardian about the fraud as it is a weakness for a couple of banks who carry out automated calls to verify new payees.
Spend-y day, ordered 500l of heating oil, the BT landline (paid up-front) and lots of bits and pieces (new loo seat, carbon monoxide monitor) for the new house.
Got my secret santa pressie sorted finally - £15 bottle of white wine, on offer at £10, then £1 off for having a My Waitrose card and finally £4 off £15 spend so it cost me £5!1 -
So we have heating at the house, OH and his mate fitted a new shower yesterday and outside lights, lots of furniture moved etc.
We don't have a cooker but have moved the combi microwave / oven over and have a camping stove. Currently looking at options but hoping to get a range cooker :j
Now we have the essentials, we're planning on moving cats and ducks over tomorrow to actually start living there :T
I've got online access to the mortgage and have offset £2000 to get us startedFirst payment of interest accrued due 25th December
but will go out on 29th then first actual payment is 1st of the month.
