sickness

can i ask for advice i have some sort virus and due to go work friday i know i shouldnt be going in to work at sainsburys but i dont get sick pay if take the time off i cant afford to not work but what do u do when sick when u have rent and bills to pay and barely survive as it is only work 16 hrs as cant get any more hrs

    If you have a virus that is contagious to others then you should not go in to work as you will be putting the health of other employees and maybe customers at risk.

    If it is non contagious then you could try and get in but you must remember that your body needs time to recover and if you rush back to work that recovery may take longer.

    I know what you mean Pippop i'm in the same boat (4 weeks now) and when I tried to reason with the claims departments (job thingy) the lady said she couldn't comment and cut me off!
    Why not phone in and explain your situation, if you have a good supervisor they might allow you to swap your shift so you don't actually lose money - but be prepared for the worst.

    The first 3 days are waiting days for SSP, so if there's no contractual sick pay the OP won't get anything for the first 3 days they're off
