DVD DEBUTS 9 JULY
TALK TO ME, ITV1's new edgy and entertaining look at relationships starring Max Beesley debuts on DVD on 9 July.</center>
In this modern tale of temptation and forbidden love, writer Danny Brocklehurst has crafted a compelling script with plot twists and turns every step of the way. The story certainly provides an alternative look at relationships and will no doubt leave the audience questioning the true meaning of love. Brocklehurst explains: "I wanted to have a stab at a British thirtysomething, a big series that took seriously the lives and loves of a group of professionals as they hit the decade of their life where everything changed; where careers, marriage and kids suddenly become more important."
Max Beesley (Hotel Babylon, Shameless) is Mitch Moore, a successful late night phone-in radio DJ on London station Life FM, dispensing glib and sometimes controversial solutions to callers'' problems. He's sexy, funny, charming and cocky; and enjoys the company of women. He leaves a trail of broken hearts as he seems to find it difficult to commit to a loving long-term relationship. In fact, he doesn't appear to want to commit to anyone, except Claire (Laura Fraser - Vanilla Sky, A Knight's Tale), the one woman he truly loves. Only trouble is, she's marrying his best friend.
Claire is preparing to marry Woody (Joseph Millson - Casino Royale, New Tricks), Mitch''s best friend and the producer of his radio show. Woody and Claire seem to have the perfect relationship - they've been together for years and know each other inside out. But relationships are never plain sailing and Claire begins to question Woody''s commitment.
In spite of her misgivings, the scene is set for the perfect wedding. Mitch will be Woody's best man and Claire's best friend Ally (Emma Pierson - Hotel Babylon) is the chief bridesmaid. Ally is Mitch's latest ex-conquest, so relations are understandably tense. But then Claire throws herself at Mitch and Woody gets cold feet. The question is, will Mitch be able to resist temptation or will he betray his best friend?
Then there's Mitch's Sister Kelly (Kate Ashfield - Shaun of the Dead), a school teacher, who is married to Scott (Adrian Bower - Teachers). Her body clock is ticking and she is desperate to have a baby with him. Scott, however, already has a daughter, the result of a one-night stand several years earlier, and has no intention of having any more children. Kelly is deeply frustrated and when she starts attracting some unexpected attention at school, she is very flattered. But will it remain flirtatious or will she take things further?
Other cast includes: Angel Coulby as Faith, the production assistant on Mitch's radio show; Amanda Douge as Cassie, the station controller and Nicholas Farrell as Calderman, Claire's boss. The biggest non-speaking character in the show is the city of London, providing a fantastically vibrant backdrop against which the friends live their lives.
TALK TO ME is a 4 x 60 min series is written by Danny Brocklehurst (Sorted, Clocking Off). It is a Company Pictures production for ITV1, produced by Matt Jones (Shameless, P.O.W.) and directed by Dearbhla Walsh (Funland, Shameless, Dead Clever).
