Advice on being a consultant in USA

Hi - I would like to know what is required in terms of visa (or equivalent) and tax implications for working in USA for 1 week a month, every month, as a consultant for a charity.
I would maintain my job here in the UK.
Any advice would be grateful.

Who are you going to be employed by for the consultancy work? The charity sounds like your client rather than your employer.
Assuming you are going to be UK based for that then you probably can get away without any visa and just an ESTA as you are just going overseas for business meetings etc - I go to the US monthly but my employer is my own ltd company in the UK and the US company is my client, though its their UK legal entity that I contract with.
I've never had any problems but a chap at the clients is going over closer to weekly and has been challenged a couple of times but ultimately always allowed in.
Obv this isnt professional advice

Sorry for the inaccuracies - I am actually posting on behalf of my girlfriend.
The charity (in the US) will indeed be a client for a 6-12 month period with a view to go perm. She has a perm position here in the UK which she will stayed employed by. (there will be a private agreement in place to share her for this period of consultancy).
How does paying tax work? The client will be paying her in $ - does she have to declare to IRS?
(she will be asking client to find this out but thought it was worth doing a little research of our own at this early stage)
