Mortgage through broker and delayed

Hi

I'm first time buyer and mortgage application through Santander. Why oh why did we not go through halifax, it's been 5 weeks now. They have asked for extra info but we are still waiting for our offer from them. Broker is annoying, how can we speed up the process? Vendor is wanting a date and further progress as both vendor and us are in no chain. Can I call the bank and harass? Or am should I be sticking with the broker?

Broker says we should get date for survey date for Santander this week but he also said this last week.

What can I do? I'm not the most patient person in the world

I've read about people moving to another provider. Is there any disadvantages besides starting the whole process again from the beginning? Thank you

The whole mortgage application is now taking longer have you not heard about MMR ?
It may take 4/5 months before you can move, have you got a solicitor and had a survey done yet ?

We have already paid for the survey, our own extensive survey. Santander are doing there own with no cost to us. Broker just confirmed to me now that they won't instruct their own survey until they are happy and want to proceed with the mortgage. He just said that should be done next week. Unless again they ask for more info.

We do have a solicitor and have delayed doing solicitor checks until the mortgage was offered. But now we are trying to call solicitor to do the checks now. Estate agent and mortgage advisers recommendation.

Sorry mmr? Is that the new checks of affordability? Yes we had to provide more info for this as well.
