Remortgage - how early can I book and who shows account online?

I'm probably 8 months away from remortgaging still (going on end date of current deal), but looking at headline rates I see a couple of lenders with near enough identical products that I'll cross my fingers will still be around a little nearer the time...
That said - does anyone know;
1/ what lenders show mortgage details in online banking (I'd like this, as it winds me up a bit that I have to speak to someone to get a balance at the mo)
2/ how far in advance can one 'hold' a deal? Is 6 months likely to be possible, if I try to get in early before rates have a chance to increase?
the lenders I'm mostly looking at right now are FD and Santander (yes, I know everyone seems to love FD and hate Santander...), but if there are other lenders which will hold rates longer and/or some OCD site that lists other lenders that'd be awesome to know about too!
