I am claiming back the ppi I paid because I was self employed (the sales man new this) the policy with consolidated life did not cover self employed people. Has anyone else made a claim against this company?

If the policy did not cover self employed then that is a good reason. However, make sure you check as most standalone plans do cover self employed.
Consolidated plans tend to be non-standard and not conform to generic versions that most providers build upon.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
